Andrea Fenininger Research.

     Andrea Feininger.
           Coenties Slip, Circa 1940

From looking at Andreas Feininger’s work I can sense the theme of power, especially from her use of overpowering and domineering images such as towering buildings, representing a dominant and powerful country.  I wanted to represent this theme in my own work, taking photograph’s of the city I love -London, focusing on historical and iconic London landmarks such as Big Ben, London Eye and Houses of Parliament. I am going to experiment with both black & white and colour photography to capture the life and experience of living in London. I want to use the over towering portrayal to represent the strong state of London.

My first response
I was initially attracted to this image as the train tracks acts as a visual line sweeping across the page guiding the eye across the image and central to the main object within the photo, focusing on the immense building. What drew me in more was the harsh contrast between the black track against the white building, juxtaposing both objects together, making the building seem more prominent. The juxtaposition is emphasised by the black and white format heightening the different shape and tone of the two subjects and the bright light luminates the authority and length of the building. I can see that Andrea Feininger’s work is based on an architecture which gave me the idea to focus on London's buildings and design.

I carried out some research about different photographers to get a brief idea about different styles and techniques. i used a website called www.thphotographyteacher.com , which had different types of photograpers.
I selected a photographer from abstract, i choose this certain type of photography because i was reall interested in some of the work photographers developed especially David Hockney who's work caught m eye first. I chose to Hockney's work because I found his work interesting by the way he sets his work out and the amount of detail he puts into his work.
I searched for other images of Hockney's work by using Google, and also search for some information about him as well on wikpedia so i could understand some of the things he was inspired by; see some of his ideas he has to create some of these photomontage.

David Hockney.

David Hockneys was born in 9th July 1937 and is currently still alive.

David's style
of photography
is mainly pop art, he also choses to paint most of his portraits. he also has been regarded as the 'playboy of the art world'.

In the eighties
David
then decided to turn his way of creating portraits and went from painting to photo collage. Hockneys became fascinated by seeing things through a window frame; Hockneys also art to express his feelings towards people he loved in his past.

hockney has taken pictures of all different things such as: portraits of people, different types of objects put together also pictures of the woods. with these pictures he has cut the image up and enlarged
certain parts of the image and placed the image back to the way the imaged first looked. he also likes to add the detail of space around him or the sort of things happening around him.

this is one of David Hockneys collage of a man in his house sitting on a sofa. you can see the certain area's where he has
enlarged and the way the image fits together; the detail behind the man.

WHILST DAVID WAS WORKING ON A PAINTING OF LOS ANGELES LIVING ROOM, HE DECIDED TO START TAKING PICTURES OF WHAT HE FOUND INSPIRED HIM A LOT. HE FIXED THEM TOGETHER IN A TOTALLY DIFFERENT STYLE SO HE COULD PAINT THE IMAGE.
WHEN HE FINISHED THE IMAGE AND PAINTED THE IMAGE. SINCE HOCKNEY CREATED THAT IMAGE HE HAS BEEN CREATING MORE IMAGES IN THE SORT OF SAME WAY AS THE FIRST ONE HE CREATED.

I like this picture because it shows that he really focused on everything and tried hard to put every piece of detail in.In this image our eyes focus maninly on the pathwa as it is in the centre of the picture also the amount of detail used it very bright and eye-catching.this image for me seems to be a very peacful place to go.

Love or Hate Brainstorm.

We created a powerpoint to say the things we love and hate.
we created a slide and split the page into two sides for love and hate. we then listed the inanimate objects that we love and hate.
After the second slide we then enetered the names of the images we need that realt to the words on the lists. We then entered two more slides and labelled them love and hate.
I wanted to create myself a starting point and use my ideas of love and hate to help me guide my way through the unit we are currently starting. I also wanted to create a clear and visual response to hep me move forward in this unit and also to help me list the things i love and hate.
This relates to the theme of love and hate because the words and images display what its about.what i have learnt is that i mainly love things that makes me happy, and hate things that make me cheerless.
